A group of post 16’s and a number of SBL staff have been fundraising for the past 2 years.
Previous funds have helped to buy tables, chairs and a door for a classroom, all made by local Tanzanian carpenters. They will be travelling to Morogoro, Tanzania in October for 10 days. Over the next couple of months they have planned many fundraising initiatives. These include a Summer Concert, bag packing at Morrison’s and Non-uniform days. All the money raised will go towards the cost of flights and many things they need to purchase whilst there, for instance rollers and paint to decorate the old people’s home, seeds, tools, clothing etc.
During the 10 days they will be: • Working with street children • Working alongside gap students looking after day care children in the centre for mentally disabled children • Helping to paint Funga Funga old people’s home • Helping to establish a sustainable communication link (ICT) • Experiencing some outreach work with the medical team
Please help to support them by attending the summer concert. They have a huge variety of acts from both this school and within the Kingswood partnership. They also have a number of ex pupils returning to the school to perform.
The concert will be taking place the 21st and 22nd of July and tickets cost just £5 or £3.50 for concessions. We will also be having a raffle on the night with some great prizes available! Tickets are available from student services. |
